Shriner’s Hospitals for Children – St. Louis touched our family in a profound way. Ericka was born with a clubfoot and was fortunate that her case was referred to Shriners. She received treatment and multiple surgeries on her foot over the first five years of her life. The first few years were a trying time for the family, but they would have much worse if not for the staff at Shriner’s. When Ericka was born, we were told that she wouldn’t be able to do much more than walk. Well, our Ericka did much more than that! She participated in cheerleading, softball, basketball volleyball, dance and anything else that struck her fancy!

So, when we set out to determine a fundraising focus for The Ericka Wade Foundation, it was an easy decision, it had to be Shriner’s. Since its inception in 2012, the Foundation has raised over $105,000 for Shriners Hospitals for Children – St. Louis. In March 2013 Shriner’s broke ground on a new and improved Children’s hospital facility in St. Louis which includes 12 inpatient beds, three surgical suites and 18 clinical examination rooms. It features enhanced space for its clinical research center for metabolic bone diseases and a space dedicated for collaborative research with Washington University School of Medicine. The facility also includes free accommodations for patient’s family members. EWF pledged to raise $50,000 in support of the new facility and Shriners commitment to pediatric orthopedics. As a result of our commitment, on May 17, 2015, during the new facilities dedication, Shriners christened one of the 12 new inpatient rooms forever as the Ericka Wade Foundation Inpatient Room! And we are thrilled to announce that in December 2017 that pledge was exceeded. The Foundation continues to raise money for Shriner’s to help defray the costs for clubfoot patients for surgeries and prosthetics!
